Your Ranking in Google -
What about Blogs?
Ask Susan - Tip of the Month
July 2005
We have been working on improving our rankings in Google
and the question keep coming up, what about Blogs?
Google ranks Blogs using the same
algorithms as it does for websites. So most of
the advice in this column can be applied to your Blog.
Don't have a blog? Do you need one?
Here are two good articles about blogs:
www.entrepreneur.com: The
Bottom Line on Business Blogs
www.about.com: What
a Blog Can Do For Your Small Business
Blogs are not appropriate for most of my clients because
they are time consuming and their businesses do not have
timely new information to report.
Blogs gain their advantage in Google rankings because
of incoming links, current information and key phrases.
The same advantages can be obtained for your website.
Blogs must have a search function to be valuable. Search
function boxes are also valuable on websites. We examine
the logs from the search function to see what visitors
are looking for. Then we add that information to our web
sites. I use the search box provided by www.freefind.com.
Try it - in the upper right corner of this page.
Next month we'll get back to: How do you improve the rankings
of your website in Google? Just ASK-SUSAN:
Next
month we'll look at how to submit your website where
it will make a difference!
Best Regards, Susan Hankins
