Susan at Ask-Susan, LLC
has been helping small companies get more business on
the Web since 1999. With a start in Web design and coding,
I quickly saw the need for business results and in the
spring of 2000, optimized one client's site for the
search engines quickly producing over 10,000 visitors
a month.
My
second optimization client was a Realtor who got a new
client EVERY DAY for months after we optimized her sites.
She made an extra $50,000 profit that first year just
from clients who found her through the website.
Since then we have helped Business-to-Business and Business-to-Consumer companies
and medical practices promote both products and services successfully through
the Web. Most of our clients have Web masters who provide the website coding
and hosting.At
Ask-Susan, we have learned several valuable lessons:
- The
results of an initial search engine optimization fade over time as the search
engine rules change and more competition comes on line and gets smart about search
engines. So we developed a management program to examine the website every quarter
and "tune it up" to stay well ranked in the search engines.
- Search
engine optimization and pay-per-click advertising generate targeted visitors
to the website. Some visitors will turn into leads and some of those leads into
customers. For on-line sales, some of those visitors will start to purchase an
item and only some of those will complete the purchase. People drop out at each
stage of the process.
Our management program examines the types of visitors and their behavior to turn visitors
into customers and sales leads. We use Google Analytics software to provide valuable insight into visitor
behavior.
- Social media such as Twitter and Facebook provide a way to build relationships with potential clients and generate referrals. These are becoming increasingly important as search engines incorporate social media dialog into the search results.
- An other lesson is that pay-per-click advertising takes vigilant management. We test key words, ad wording, landing pages, bids and seasonal budgets to obtain the most leads at the lowest cost.
